Did you work in any of Sainsbury's Non Perishables buying departments from 1979 until the early 90s? If so, you might be interested to know that a few of the former inmates are in the early stages of planning a Grand Reunion for November 2009.
These were the days of Grocery 1 through to Grocery 4 and Non Foods 1 to 3. We've been digging around in our distant memories and have come up with names of quite a few of the Senior Managers of those days. Did you work for any of these? Or are you in fact one of these? ;o)

- there must have been a couple of others that we've missed!
+ unfortunately, we know that Mike and Michael are no longer with us
Jill Hayes, née Carrick, and Maureen Dunn have started to build a list of names of people that they remember, and and whose contact details they still have. The hope is that as the news starts to spread we'll draw in more and more people from those days and we can send out an old-fashioned JS Contact Message :o)
So, if you're an ex-JS buyer from those halcyon Stamford Street days drop us a message through this blog and we'll go from there!

Hi, My name is Alan Hercberg. I worked at Sainsbury's from 1965 to 1973. I'm trying to make contact with Gary Green. When I knew him he was PA to Lord Alan Sainsbury. I was PA to Max Justice, Director responsible for Meat, Poultry and Eggs. I eventually became egg buyer, after Ernie Green. The names of the senior people I can remember from then are Malcolm Hughes, Tom Brewer, Bob Wallis. I (and they) probably fall outside of your ambit, both because of the timing, and because you are looking for non-perishables. I think I even pre-date that division into perishables and non-perishables. Nevertheless, if you hear from Gary Green please let me know how to contact him. Thanks and good luck,
